PILOT STUDY DETAILS
PROMISING RESULTS
Our pilot study was supervised by Dr. Brian Zheng, a Harvard urologist and assistant professor with specialized training in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery. Dr. Zheng's expertise in urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, and related conditions made him an ideal supervisor for our research. The study utilized a commercial off-the-shelf light therapy device that served as a technological proof of concept, demonstrating promising self-reported results for women seeking UTI and bladder pain relief.

Dr. Zheng holds an MD from Case Western Reserve University and completed his Residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his Fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at the University of Michigan. His clinical expertise includes urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, pelvic organ prolapse, and reconstructive urologic surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in the Study?
Participants will take part in a 30-day remote pilot study focused on bladder and pelvic pain and symptom relief. If you join, you will: Receive access to an FDA-approved light therapy device to use at home Use the device daily for 10–20 minutes, following simple instructions Complete a light sensitivity test before first use Receive daily reminders and check-ins from our team Fill out a short daily feedback form to track symptoms and experience Have the option to keep the device after completing the study.
Who qualifies?
MinaRosa has selected female participants between the ages of 21 and 50 who have experience with the pain, discomfort, and inflammation associated with urinary tract infections (UTIs). Certain individuals are excluded for safety reasons, including those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under the age of 21. The study also excludes people with active cancer, severe acne, certain blood vessel conditions like phlebitis, light-triggered epilepsy, or those with recent surgeries and open wounds
Compensation
There is no monetary payment or gifts provided for participating in this study. While the trial is free and MinaRosa covers all shipping costs, participants have the option to keep the device at the end of the study by making a $99.99 donation. If a participant stops the study early or does not experience improvement, the device must be returned. Furthermore, if the device is lost or stolen, the participant is responsible for a $49.99 replacement fee.
Safety Monitoring
Safety is managed through a mandatory light sensitivity test before the first use, where participants apply the light to their forearm for 10 minutes and monitor for reactions for 24 hours. The study team provides daily check-ins via text, call, or email to monitor progress and address any concerns. Clinical oversight is provided by Dr. Brian Zheng of Harvard Medical School, and participants are instructed to stop use immediately and contact the team if they experience negative reactions.
Data Privacy
The study ensures confidentiality by anonymizing all collected data, replacing names and personal details with aliases so that information cannot be linked back to the participant. Access to this data is strictly limited to the MinaRosa research team for the purposes of improving technology and presenting findings to investors. Personal participation will not be shared with anyone outside the team unless legally required, and the team will seek explicit permission before using data in any way that could identify a participant.
What Our Users Say
Hear from women who have experienced relief with our light therapy solution.
"I've had nonstop bladder pain for seven years. I was on antibiotics for three of them. This was the first time I saw improvement without meds. The change wasn't huge, but it was real—and for me, any forward movement is worth it. I used the device more during high-risk days, like after intimacy, and I didn't flare up like I usually do. That's never happened before. I bought the device after the study ended because even small relief, when you've had nothing, is a big deal."

"I used to dread going to my daughter's soccer games. I'd stop drinking fluids hours beforehand, scout out bathrooms in advance, or make plans to sneak off to gas stations because I couldn't hold it comfortably for more than 20–30 minutes. But during this past month, I noticed I could sit through the full game—over 90 minutes—and still feel fine. That's the kind of shift that affects your quality of life in a huge way. It let me show up as a mom without worrying about where the nearest bathroom was."
