Pilot Study Details
This is Minarosa pilot study with using a red light therapy device that already existed was supervised by Dr. Brian Zheng, a Harvard urologist and assistant professor with specialized training in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery. Dr. Zheng's expertise in urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, and related conditions made him an ideal supervisor for our research. The study utilized a commercial off-the-shelf light therapy device that served as a technological proof of concept, demonstrating promising self-reported results for women seeking UTI and bladder pain relief.
This is going to be open for others who are interested in using red light therapy for their intimate health, and here are some more details:
The study showed that participants experienced an average pain reduction of 27.5%, with 60% of participants choosing to purchase the product after the trial concluded.

Meet MinaRosa
MinaRosa was born from lived experience.
Our founder, Ana, spent much of her life dealing with recurrent UTIs—painful, disruptive, and often dismissed as something women simply have to endure. In 2021, while experiencing yet another UTI thousands of miles away from her doctor, she found herself desperate for relief and out of options. That moment led her to research how athletes use red and infrared light to reduce pain and inflammation. She decided to try it herself. Within days, the pain eased.
That experience sparked a realization: if this could help her, it could help millions of women who have been conditioned to tolerate discomfort, silence, and inadequate care.
MinaRosa was created to challenge that reality.
At its core, MinaRosa exists to destigmatize intimate health and restore dignity, sovereignty, and confidence for women. We create evidence-based intimate health products, services, and a community women actually want to engage with—free from shame, misinformation, and outdated medical bias. We reject narratives that frame women’s bodies as broken or at fault. Instead, we honor women’s intelligence, lived experience, and autonomy.
Our vision is to build a trusted intimate health ecosystem that goes beyond products integrating diagnostics, education, and support systems for women historically overlooked or dismissed by traditional medicine. Through thoughtful, intuitive experiences, MinaRosa helps women feel informed, supported, and confident in their bodies and decisions.
The future of intimate health is humane, evidence-based, and led by women who know themselves.
